He Came as a 'Dreamer.' He Planned to Send Americans Home in Body Bags.

Here's what they're not putting at the top of their coverage.

Abraham Alvarez is a Mexican national who has lived in the United States illegally. He was brought here as a child. He was given protection under Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — what the political class calls being a "Dreamer." He was, by every measure the establishment has spent a decade celebrating, exactly the kind of immigrant America was supposed to be keeping.

He was also, according to the Department of Homeland Security, the ringleader of a plot to massacre Americans at a UFC event at the White House.

Think about that for a moment. Not a lone wolf. Not a disturbed kid with a grudge. A ringleader. The man who planned it. Who organized it. Who directed it.

Here's what the plan looked like, according to investigators: Phase one, explosive-laden drones would strike nearby buildings. That would trigger mass panic. The panicking crowd would pour out into the streets — directly toward a waiting sniper team. The attack was designed to kill as many people as possible in multiple overlapping waves. This wasn't a manifesto. It was a military-style operation.
The FBI stopped it. Good. That's their job, and they did it.

But ask yourself why we're not talking about this the way we should be.

If a man protected by a conservative president's immigration program had plotted to kill thousands of Americans, it would be the only story in America. Every anchor. Every front page. Every panel of experts demanding that the program be ended immediately. The political class would make it a referendum on everything the right believes about the border.

But when the man has a DACA card? Suddenly it's complicated. Suddenly there are caveats. Suddenly we need to remember that most DACA recipients are fine people who just want a better life.

That's not journalism. That's narrative management.

Here's what's actually true. DACA is a program Barack Obama created by executive order — which means it was never passed by Congress, was never subjected to democratic deliberation, and was never properly vetted as a matter of national security. It was issued as a political maneuver during an election year. Hundreds of thousands of people were granted legal protection on the basis of a memo.

And the people running that program had no idea what they were allowing in.
Now it turns out that at the same moment this story broke, Congress was trying to renew FISA Section 702 — the surveillance tool the government uses to monitor foreign threats inside the United States. President Trump killed it. Just last week. Days after the FBI used other tools to stop a drone-and-sniper plot on the White House.

Nobody will say this clearly, so I will: you can't simultaneously argue that the government needs sweeping surveillance powers to protect Americans from terrorism while also defending a program that put the organizer of a domestic terrorist plot inside the country. Those two positions cannot coexist.

The ruling class loves FISA 702 because it gives the permanent bureaucracy enormous power to monitor people. The same people who built DACA loved it because it gave the Democratic Party enormous long-term political advantages. They were happy to use both. The security of actual Americans was secondary.
The antifa cell in Minneapolis — the one that was just indicted for running surveillance on ICE officers and preparing to use street combat to obstruct federal immigration enforcement — that's the same week. That's the same country. Fifteen people coordinating to help illegal immigrants evade federal law. An illegal immigrant planning a mass casualty attack at the White House.

These things are connected. The ideology that says borders are immoral produces both of them.

Here's the part of this story the media will spend zero time on: how did Abraham Alvarez radicalize? Who was around him? What networks did he use? What did his DACA renewal process look like? Who vouched for him? Where did the money come from?

Those are the questions that matter if you actually want to prevent the next one.
Instead, you'll get a brief news cycle, a press release from DHS, and then we'll move on to whatever outrage the establishment has decided we should be upset about next.

The regime built the conditions for this. The Dreamer program, designed to immunize a class of illegal immigrants from consequences. The open-borders ideology, which treated every question about who was coming into the country as racist. The political infrastructure that made it impossible to enforce immigration law without being denounced.

They built it. They defended it. They demonized anyone who said it was dangerous.

Abraham Alvarez was going to use explosive drones to drive a crowd of American families into a sniper's line of fire.

The FBI stopped him this time.
